You made it! You have completed your quilt top! So why not celebrate by taking that last "Victory Lap"?
What is a Victory Lap? It is a stitch that runs around the perimeter of the top about 1/8" from the edge.
Why is this important? It keeps your stitches that run to the edge of your quilt secure. You do not want to end up with popped stitches and it starts to run its way to the inside of your quilt. This is especially true for quilt tops that do not have borders.
Why does my Longarmer want to request this as prep work? When your quilt top is loaded for quilting it is loaded onto bars that get rolled and stretched. It is not stretched tight where seams are stressed, but it is stretched when loading and advancing that those side seams are the first to pop if not secured.
You worked so hard to get the top pieced together. Lets take that victory lap to make sure that hard work does not come undone.
