Trimming, Squaring, Scraps and donations

Trimming

Squaring up

Squaring up

Trimming is not the same as squaring. We trim about a 1/4" past the edge of the quilt top to make it easier for you to bind and manage. We have the space to cut, so let us help you out!

This service is a $10 add on.

Squaring up

Squaring up

Squaring up

Squaring up is part of trimming that sometimes has us cutting into the edge of your quilt to make straight lines. This is done before binding and does take a bit more precision. We will discuss this in the intake process or before binding, if there is a need to cut into your quilt top more than 1/4" to square.

This is $10 add on before binding services.

Scrap

Donations

Scraps are anything left over after quilting that is substantial. Meaning: it is over 4" in width. We use the extra backing on the sides for testing tension. The pantographs also run off of the edges of your quilt making it part of the seam allowance.

If you send in wider and longer fabric, Yay! That gives us more wiggle room for attaching. This also allows for larger scraps.

Returning Scraps

Donations

When shipping, to keep weight down after quilting, some prefer just to donate their scrap frabric. Note these are usually the 3-4" strips on the side of backing left over after after quilting. These scraps are used in Project Linus Blankets. This is our charity of choice. If you wish to donate your scraps let us know!

Returning Scraps

Returning Scraps

If you want your quilt trimmed and your scraps returned we are happy to do so. Please note that 8" extra needed in your backing is considered part of our seam allowance and can be used to test tension on the sides. Meaning: It does get used. Pantagraphs are also stitched off your quilt top some to allow for all over quiting  to the edges. We do our best to make sure that you have as much left over fabric as humanly possible.

This does not include batting.

Do Not Trim

Returning Scraps

Returning Scraps

You do not want your quilt top trimmed.

This is great for when you need every bit of scrap left or if you want to trim your quilt yourself.

If you are wanting to fold your backing over the front for the binding, please let us know so that we can place the pantograph as close to the edge of your quilt top as possible.
